What we do is simple. We give back to local veterans in a small way hoping to make a huge impact not only on their lives but on the way of thinking as to giving back to the veterans who have given so much for us and this great country. My grandfather Cpl. Dominick A. Delia Sr. was a Combat Engineer in the 28th Infantry of the 5th Marine Division during the Battle of Iwo Jima in 1945. When he passed away in October of 2014, there was a star found in his wallet that was given to him a few weeks prior that had a card with it stating:
"I am a part of our American flag. I have flown over the USA, the winds have caused me to become tattered and torn, please carry me as a reminder that you are never forgotten."
When I saw this, I decided to start the "A Star from Pop" program so that we could give back to local veterans in the same way so they know they nor their service are never forgotten. Now we make these stars exactly like the one my grandfather had and we give them to local veterans. Check out our events page to see more about what we do. We are also looking to expand and start veteran outreach in other way!
